The book is a mysterious
object. Reading a book is at the same time a dual action: demystify but also profane that mystery. Readers (and I am a
devoted one) do not simply assimilate, but they readjust, rewrite, and
reconstruct texts and meanings. During the process they leave visible traces of
their travelling through the book, such as notes, underlines, book marks,
folded pages, stains, finger prints ... accumulated memories. At the end, the
book will be a different object, personal marks were superimposed on the
original. This moment in which the book becomes personal property and will
carry forever time-impressions, was my departure point and subject of
investigation. Working with second hand book copies, I dismantle them reassembling the total amount of fragments constructing a
new object.
